The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is an epic sequel to the first movie! It is equally entertaining and action-packed. The characters develop extensively in this film, and there are many new revelations and issues that present themselves. There is a lot of suspense, as the movie begins from when the fellowship was separated. With this, the storyline spreads into multiple branches, which keeps things interesting. Some new characters are also introduced in this film. I enjoyed being able to see more of the land and its people. I highly recommend this movie, especially if you loved the first one! 4/5 @PenelopeScriptor of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board 4/5 stars. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a 2002 epic fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson and based on the second volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. It is the second installment in film franchise, preceded by the 2001 film The Fellowship of the Ring. While it didn't wow critics enough to garner the bakers dozen of Oscar nominations that The Fellowship of the Ring received, I enjoyed this movie more than the first. Though darker, more violent than its predecessor, The Fellowship of the Ring, Towers also is more visually appealing and enthralling in the scale of its set pieces. Despite the dazzling battle of Helm's Deep rightfully taking up the majority of the film, for me the most entertaining part was the story told about Frodo, Sam, and Gollum. Andy Serkis’ motion capture performance as the corrosive gollum, and his interaction with his alter ego smeagol, is one of the most compelling character displays I have ever seen. This combined with the complex social interactions going on between Gollum, a ring seduced Frodo, and an ever noble Sam, make for an extremely intricate and personal film despite the apparent scope of the events taking place in this universe. This is a must see. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
