Love the characters, watched the entire series several times, plus 2 of the books (so far). It's the lifestyle that's the main draw for me. The values. They vary from person to person but they work it out, usually. And as in real life, when Longmire sticks to the truth, sticks to his guns, he draws fire. The many, many murders in a tiny town come mostly from the casino, the opposition to the casino mixed with the support for the casino, plus the moneymaking potential of running crime in and around the casino. Drugs, sex, loan sharking, etc. And the Irish mob shows up. All of that. The series is also about faith -- having faith in honest people. After awhile, no matter how far out a character's behavior seems to be, when you understand him or her, you know they are justified. Just wait to see why or come up with your own theories. I was raised on westerns. I don't object to them. :-D
