George Washington. William Wilberforce. Eric Liddell. Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Jackie Robinson. Pope John Paul II. Charles W. Colson. These seven men share one vital trait: each one was a Christian, and each one sought to live by Christian principles in ways that dramatically affected theirs and others' lives. Each man receives a short but interesting biography written by Metaxas, whose admiration for these individuals is clear throughout the book as he holds them up as notable examples of character and strength. In the introduction, Metaxas states his desire that this book inspire a generation of listless, lackluster young men to take a note from these historical figures and build lives of moral fortitude; with biographies like these, one can't help but be inspired.
