Jack Reacher hunts the hunter in the third novel in Lee Child's New York Times bestselling series.

Ex military policeman Jack Reacher is enjoying the lazy anonymity of Key West when a stranger shows up asking for him. He's got a lot of questions. Reacher does too, especially after the guy turns up dead. The answers lead Reacher on a cold trail back to New York, to the tenuous confidence of an alluring woman, and the dangerous corners of his own past.

I just read Tripwire for the third time (or was it the fourth) in more than two decades and I have enjoyed it more each time.
This Jack Reacher novel was certainly head and shoulders above Lee's latest works.

This is not my favorite Jack Reacher novel -- that would be '61 Hours' -- but I certainly enjoy picking it up again once in awhile. After 20 years, it's still a fun read. Child is meticulously faithful to New York City geography; the standoff with the bad guy at the end is breathtaking; there's a nice little love story for the romantics among us, and we see the beginnings of some of Reacher's most endearingly weird traits. Excellent!

This is the first Child book I've read. Easy to see why he's popular author . The villain is memorable.

Book #11 chronologically, after Die Trying and before The Visitor aka Running Blind:

I've read three Jack Reacher books now. I like them a lot, but almost didn't finish this one. Parts of it are so gruesome, yet so fascinating, I couldn't give up on it. I wanted to find out the ending! I plan to read the whole series. He's a good writer.

If you are a Jack Reacher fan you will like this book. If you are not, you haven't read a Jack Reacher book before; time to start now and Tripwire is a great place to start. It has all the elements of the usual Reacher stories - suspense, thrill, technical details and the triumph of good over evil. All in all a good page-turner.

I really like the Jack Reacher series. Even "not the best" is sometimes hard for me to put down. That being said, this is me nit picking (but it's the internet so I'm allowed to, right?). The part where Jodie, a beautiful and stylish high-powered NY lawyer with an office on Wall Street, left the house for work with wet hair, made me cringe. Also, when she wore a sexy midnight blue silk dress with LOAFERS to the fancy French restaurant... like, huh?

Not the best of the Reacher series, but since i'm a big fan of his, it was okay.

Is Reacher tough or not:

“A picture of you, my friend,” the doctor said. “That’s what. The damn bullet didn’t even make it into your chest. Your pectoral muscle is so thick and so dense it stopped it dead. Like a three-inch kevlar vest. It popped out the other side of the muscle wall and smashed a rib, but it went no farther.”

Jul 11, 2014

The bullet launched sideways under his raised left arm and hit the distant garage about the same time his right elbow hit the guy in the face. An elbow moving fast ahead of 250 pounds of diving body weight does a lot of damage. It glanced off the frame of the screen and caught the guy in the chin.
