OH I loved this book! Divergent series is awesome.

Insurgent is book two in the Divergent series and picks up right after Divergent ends, where Tris and her friends are constantly moving around as they are wanted dead by multiple leaders. They are trying to bring justice and peace to their world, which includes a lot of action packed scenes and many consequences to deal with afterwards. Tris and Four's relationship is a more focused part of the plot, and I liked how you get to see the troubles a real relationship goes through in the story (You also get to see Four's point of view which I found very entertaining to read!). There is also some really good side character development in this book as well that I enjoyed reading. The author goes into a lot of detail in the story, and you feel like you are right there in the story with them. I would definitely recommend this book to people who enjoyed Divergent! However, I have found that sometimes in a series, the second book isn't as good the first - and that is the case here. Insurgent was a great book, but I found Divergent was much more captivating. Once again, with all the action in Insurgent, I wouldn't recommend this book to an audience younger than about 13. 4/5 stars

As often happens for me, secondary installments in fantasy/futuristic/sci fi series don't live up to the first simply because the sense of discovery of an author's created world is gone. HP, LOTR and The Hunger Games are notable exceptions. This picks up exactly where Divergent ended with Tris and her companions fleeing the attacking Erudite and looking for safe harbor with Amity. Then they try Candor. Then they decide to go hang at the old Dauntless headquarters. Yes, lots of moving around from place to place. Plenty of action and a fair amount of drama between Tris and Tobias/Four. But people die and kill and I was curiously unmoved; no sobbing over a Finnick here. Roth is a good storyteller and I'm certainly going to read the next, but I was hoping for a little more depth and realistic characterization along with the exciting and furiously-paced plot. She's no Suzanne Collins, but then not many are.

Not as good as the first but still worth reading.

The story becomes a little dull in this one. There is too many betrayals and fight scenes. I'm in it for the love story and in this one it takes a backseat to the societal issues . I don't think the author is as good at that type of story.

Even though this book isn't as good as the first book in the series, it still had a ton of adventure. I felt so bad for Tris! Tris had to go through so much in this book, and with the excellent details (Thanks to Veronica Roth), I felt so much of the emotions while reading this story. I would definitely this book to all of my friends! 4 1/2 stars.

Background info about Divergent: It's all about the Erudite wanting to controll the Dauntless people to attack the Abnegation.
Now in Insurgent, Tris, Tobias and others of the Abnegations went to Amity headcorters to seek shelter. The Erudite found out and everyone had to run again. Then one night out of no where two of Tris's friends were being controlled and jumped off the building threatening that if one divergent person is not in the Erudite headcorters by__ this would happen again.
Basically, it is a fast pace book with people on the edge of their chairs waiting for what is to come in this book.
