The second book in the chaos walking series opens where the first one ends, in New Prentiss Town (Haven). Todd and Viola are now separated from eachother. As they try to be reunited Todd and Viola must figure out who they can trust, if anyone.

Add a QuoteThere is only silence when it happens. It isn't loud or struggled against or violent or anything at all. She just falls quiet. A certain type of quiet that you know is endless as soon as you hear it. A quiet that muffles everything around it. Turning off the volume of the world.

Comment
Add a CommentThe second installment in the Chaos Walking trilogy does not disappoint. Another reviewer had mentioned that this trilogy, and The Ask and The Answer in particular, are great novels for better understanding civil war and terrorism. They were correct. Troubling to read yet hard to put down, I will definitely be continuing on to the final book.
The text and language of these books is more complex than the language of the Hunger Games books but I think fans of the uber popular Hunger Games would like Chaos Walking.
I'm nearly finished but it's just so boring!!! I've been trying to get through it for two or more weeks now. It's just not interesting. their are 552 pages in the book and hardly anything happens. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that likes fast, action packed books, but anyone that likes slow very boring books, then go for it!
I LOVED the first book.... BUT.. this one... I guess I just didn't feel it. I gave up on it halfway through.. it was just plain dull.
The Ask and The Answer is the second book in the Chaos Walking series. The events of this book take place almost immediately where the first book, The Knife of Never Letting Go, left off. Todd and Viola have been captured by Mayor Prentiss after he manages to take over the largest settlement in New World, Haven. However a rebel faction emerges to try and strip the Mayor Prentiss of his power. The story looks into interesting themes such as what makes a leader worth following, what’s the difference between freedom fighters and terrorists and the cost of civil war. This book is stronger than the first in the series, with even more character development, a great exploration of central themes and even more compelling plot than the first. The characters are interesting and the pacing of the story is also very well done. The ending was much better than the last book’s, as the last one had a very abrupt ending that left the reader wondering what happened, whereas this book ends leading directly into the next book while still being an interesting and fulfilling ending in itself. The overall verdict is 4.5 stars, another amazing entry in the Chaos Walking series.

Unlike many second books in a trilogy, which exist to get the reader from point A to point B, The Ask and the Answer is even stronger than the first book. Everything ramps up in intensity. The stakes are higher. The conflict is more complex, and the characters start to deal with some moral dilemmas. This series is so good. SO GOOD! Seriously - you need to read this.
my area of reading is bigger now because of this series.
By far the best book in the series. The ask and the answer brings you so much closer to the characters in the book. things go wild as you learn more about mayor... sorry president printess. I have to admit I grew close to Davy, a boy who wants nothing more than his father's acceptance. You want to know where this series is headed well this is the Answer! #punny
An unexpected turn and compelling sequel to The Knife of Never Letting Go.
Suspenseful and thoughtful YA series that looks at the use and abuse of power in a space colony that seems to be on a path to war.
I enjoyed this book, though not as much as the first. I was confused most of the time who was on Viola and Todd's side and who wasn't. But all the way through I couldn't put it down.
