The zombies are disappearing. This might seem like a good thing, since zombies eat your brains, but normal human kid Jack Sullivan is suspicious. He keeps hearing an eerie shrieking noise that seems to be almost summoning the zombies--but to where, and for what (probably) foul purpose?

I don't think I could fully explain how much I like this series here, but I'll try. Having tore through book one like Blatg through a horde of zombies, I've discovered that I intend to read all five books (and watch the great TV shows). Despite operating under the guise of reading to my son, I would finish this series even if my little guy gives up (which he probably won't). Jack is an engaging hero, an orphan who never had a real home, but finds a second chance in the Apocalypse. He's brave, loyal, and sometimes as dumb as a bag of hammers, but his devotion to his new friends/family is the driving force of this book. In book one, he finally discovered the meaning of friendship. In this he learns that while his decisions to risk all to keep his friends safe is noble, trusting them is just as important. These books are great, and give good lessons to kids and adults alike. And they're pretty darn hilarious too.
