“The American Association of Patriots Presents How To Talk To Your Cat About Gun Safety” is a book that could have been written by Floyd R. Turbo, American (Google him). It attempts to satirize the political stances of the Far Right using kitties. The book is actually a compilation of satirical pamphlets produced by the AAP and its president, Zachary Auburn. As a book, at 136 pages it is about 135 pages too long. It is a one-joke book. If you don’t get the joke in the first page or two, then reading the whole thing is not going to help you. I am fine with bashing the Far Right, or the Far Left for that matter. Our society needs more satire in these volatile, politically correct times. Or maybe I should I say, we need more thoughtful, intelligent, humorous satire. Personally, though, satire only has to pass one test - is it funny? So, is “How To Talk To Your Cat About Gun Safety” funny? No, it isn’t.
