Read the book or listen to the audio book. Missing the feel and humor of the book.

Well done! A solid adaptation of the book, but then again the teleplay was written by Neil himself. It's a blast and fun to watch. Now, how often can you say that?

Fantastic series. I watched it on Amazon Prime and as soon as I was through with it I wanted to purchase it! David Tennant and Michael Sheen were perfectly cast, as was Jon Hamm. Thank you Neil for adapting it for the screen. Now having said that I will need to read the book.

Fabulous absolutely fabulous series. We only have the 2 disc version, but soon to come from BBC the tv series goes on and on and on. We just can't buy it yet. The two lead actors (and many others) are the greatest! You will love the humor, the realistic terror of the planet, and the story that entertains and provokes you.

Full Disclosure: I've never read Good Omens, the book.
...I know, I know! I'm a librarian who REGULARLY tells people they NEED to read the book before the adaptation. But, I just never got around to this one, and I just happened to see the DVD come back to go into the shelf. I couldn't resist.
So, with a grain of otherwise unknowing salt: I loved this series. I am very disappointed that this wasn't stretched out into various seasons, because man... I could watch David Tennant as Crowley ALL DAY LONG. And the interaction between him and Martin Sheen: perfect.
This is definitely one I will be watching again and again!
(...And okay, eventually I'll get around to reading the book.)

A genteel British version of Gaiman's American Gods ... since the series cover chosen events from Genesis to present day, it moves along at a good pace and never boring. The "fire and water" switch is surprising and fun, like looking up meaning of those old-timey British lexicons (e.g. southern pansie == American hillbilly.)

Faithful to the book's fun but heartfelt tone! Entertaining watch whether you have or have not read the book. Had me laughing a lot :)

I enjoyed this. It is British humor and storytelling - so if you know you generally don't like that, you will likely not love this. It also has a little bit of cheap/low-budget effects in some scenarios, which can be distracting. But overall, the characters and story are well developed and well acted. The story is well paced for the television format. What if God and Satan scheduled Armageddon but a key angel and demon on earth decided they liked life on earth too much to want it to be destroyed? A delightful premise and Sheen and Tennant are excellent leads.

The joke about Newton Pulsifer‘s car "Dick Turpin" (an English highwayman, a criminal whose exploits were romanticised) is a groaner but more in the novel:

Newt's car was a Wasabi. He called it Dick Turpin, in the hope that one day someone would ask him why.  It would be a very accurate historian who could pinpoint the precise day when the Japanese changed from being fiendish automatons who copied everything from the West, to becoming skilled and cunning engineers who would leave the West standing. But the Wasabi had been designed on that one confused day, and combined the traditional bad points of most Western cars with a host of innovative disasters the avoidance of which had made firms like Honda and Toyota what they were today.
...
since one reason for the Wasabi's incredible m.p.g. was that fact that it spent a lot of time waiting in garages while crankshafts and things were in the post from the world's only surviving Wasabi agent in Nigirizushi, Japan.

Intro P1 of 2:

Current theories on the creation of the universe state that if it were created at all and didn't just start, as it were, unofficially, it came into being about 14 billion years ago. The Earth is generally supposed to be about 4 and a half billion years old. These dates are incorrect. Some medieval scholars put the date of the creation at 3760 BC. Others put creation as far back as 5508 BC. Also, incorrect. Archbishop James Ussher claimed that the Heaven and the Earth were created on Sunday, the 21st of October, 4004 BC, - at 9:00 a.m. This too was incorrect, by almost a quarter of an hour. It was created at 9:13 in the morning. Which was correct.

Intro P2 of 2:

The whole business with the fossilised dinosaur skeletons was a joke the palaeontologists haven't seen yet. This proves two things. Firstly, that God does not play dice with the universe. I play an ineffable game of my own devising. For everyone else, it's like playing poker in a pitch-dark room, for infinite stakes, with a dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time. Secondly, the Earth is a Libra. The entry for Libra in The Tadfield Advertiser on the night our history begins reads as follows: "You may be feeling run down and always in the same daily round. A friend is important to you. You may be vulnerable to a stomach upset today, so avoid salads. Help could come from an unexpected quarter".
This was perfectly correct on every count, except for the bit about the salads.
