In her characteristically gripping prose, Pulitzer-Prize winner Samantha Power illuminates the messy and complex worlds of politics and geopolitics while laying bare the searing battles and defining moments of her life. She also reveals what it's like to juggle the demands of a 24/7 national security job with raising two young children. And, in the face of great challenges, she shows us not just how the United States can lead, but why there is always something each of us can do to advance the cause of human dignity.

So inspiring - Power’s ability to drill down the female experience in places of power both the sisterhood that is formed and the “bar cave” effect is humbling to read from someone of her stature. Her honesty about the struggles she faced with confidence was a kind reminder that we should be more gentle on ourselves and even our heroes have doubt. The work she accomplished is what I aspire to be

Not just a memoir but a bird's eye view of government trying to cope with some of the most challenging crises of our time. Samantha Power is a gifted writer and the book never flags. Her frequent descriptions of coping with a family life and young children during her time as UN ambassador are really eye opening. I recommend this book for anyone interested in politics, world affairs, government and reading about strong, intelligent women.
