FBI agent Emmy Dockery is absolutely relentless. She's young and driven, and her unique skill at seeing connections others miss has brought her an impressive string of arrests. But a shocking new case-unfolding across the country-has left her utterly baffled. The victims all appear to have died by accident, and have seemingly nothing in common. But this many deaths can't be coincidence. And the killer is somehow one step ahead of every move Dockery makes. How? To FBI special agent Harrison "Books" Bookman, everyone in the FBI is a suspect-particularly Emmy Dockery (the fact that she's his ex-fiancee doesn't make it easier).

A bona fide Patterson/Ellis thriller! The surprise ending is both clever and unexpected. Read “Invisible” the prequel to “Unsolved” first, for maximum literary enjoyment. Both are 4 star reads.

Already on Hold

Had resolved to give up reading thrillers because I was getting fed up with them; luckily this did not take effect till after I read "Unsolved." This book was really good. Emmy Dickory is an FBI quantitative analyst who does not believe any death is accidental till she can rule out Homicide. Thus it is that she has already nabbed one serial killer at great personal cost. She is now on the trail of yet another one but this time the patterns are rather garbled. And, she has to do her search while the FBI is suspecting her of leaking information to a journalist. Her relationship with Brooks is also in jeopardy. All of this makes for great reading. I did not fall for most of the red herrings but in the end the authors fooled me too. All in all a satisfying read.

Started out good but gradually lost my interest less than l/2 thru. Prior book "Invisible" was great but this lacked steam. If had followed thru with original storyline would have been different but, for some reason, needed to add another "case" that made it way too complicated.
