Nearly all the recipes in "Simple Fancy" sound scrumptious. So I found it especially infuriating that the publishers chose to split up the ingredients and put a few on the next page in many of the recipes, when there was plenty of room on the 1st page. I simply can not understand why any publisher would do such a disservice to its authors! Because of this formatting, I will never l pick up up this cookbook and prepare one of its recipes.Nearly all the recipes in "Simple Fancy" sound scrumptious. I loved "Public Anchovy #1," book #3 in the Deep Dish cozy mystery series. Deliah's current catering gig basically turns into a locked room mystery. The pacing was great as the twists and turns kept coming. I'm excited to read book #4 as soon as it's released.I loved "Public Anchovy #1," book #3 in the Deep Dish cozy mystery series. When I ordered "Recipe for a Charmed Life," I didn't really know what genre it was. Then, when it arrived, after reading the inside cover flap and seeing how incredibly tiny the font was, I didn't know if I'd care for the book at all. However, as I believe in at least starting a book before setting it aside, I decided to read a few pages before heading to bed, even though it was 1am. By 3 pages in, I was so absorbed that I didn't pick up my phone, look at a clock, nor move from my chair until I finished the 368-page book, and realized it was 5am. Yes, there is some romance, but this book is more about one woman's strength as her personal journey takes her through the stages of discovery, understanding, acceptance, forgiveness, healing, and renewal. If you are a person who has been fortunate enough to have grown up in an emotionally healthy home environment, this book may not affect you in intense way that it did me, yet I believe that there is something in it for most readers. I loved it and give it my highest recommendation. When I ordered "Recipe for a Charmed Life," I didn't really know what genre it was. I absolutely loved it. Yes, there were a couple of editing errors, but the music, the scenery, and the messages were all superb! I would like to own a copy.

"The Dog Across the Lake," book #9 in the excellent Paws & Claws cozy mystery series, is so very good! There are numerous twists and turns that kept my attention as I changed my mind every few pages about who I thought did it. It was also nice to be introduced to more of Holly's family members. I hope they'll return in future books. The only flaws I saw within pages were numerous editing errors (thus the 4.5 star rating, rather than a full 5 stars). As this is the very 1st book of the series that I've seen any errors in, I'm giving that a pass and hope the editor will do better next time."The Dog Across the Lake," book #9 in the excellent Paws & Claws cozy mystery series, is so very good! When I picked up "Last Call at the Local," I'd heard that it was good, but I didn't really know what it was about. I'm so glad that at the time, I didn't know that it was classified as a romance, or I likely would have never checked it out. (I'm not against romance; just the whole trope of: guy is a jerk, then he does something kind, and then the female forgets all the previous signs and decides he's her soul mate.)
The storyline in this book is that the woman has ADHD, while the guy has OCD. It is so incredibly well done! What I liked most about it is that instead of being about someone trying to help another with their disorders, the ADHD was presented from the viewpoint of the person who has the ADHD. It was incredibly enlightening! Even after all my years of working in behavioral health, other than recognizing and trying to understand their frustrations, I'd never really understood how life must feel for individuals with these disorders.
It is enlightening and touching with a lot of humor. I highly recommend it!When I picked up "Last Call at the Local," I'd heard that it was good, but I didn't really know what it was about. I have read every book in the series, and loved them all until recently. I laughed enough while reading the first 2 chapters of "Dirty Thirty" that I thought Janet had written the book herself this time. But by chapter 3, the clever humor quickly disappeared. Sure, whoever is "helping" to write her books keeps to her format and says all the right things. They just aren't said with the clever tweaks that Janet uses to transport the reader to a truly enjoyable experience. And then it ended in a cliffhanger. Not good! The only reason I'm not done with this series is that I love the characters, so I'll hang in there a little longer.I have read every book in the series, and loved them all until recently. "Hanging by a Thread" is book #2 in the Sewing Studio cozy mystery series. I really, really love this series. That being said, I really wish that the author would cut back on Abbey constantly going on and on about how she fears her business may be doomed. We get it already. Expressing it 1-2 times per book is sufficient. With a good mystery, you don't need that kind of filler."Hanging by a Thread" is book #2 in the Sewing Studio cozy mystery series. "How the Murder Crumbles" is book #1 in the Cookie Shop cozy mystery series. Although the mystery is good, with lots of twists and turns, there is so much repetitiveness that if the author were to eliminate most of it, my bet is that the book would be at least 20% shorter. (We get it. Small businesses have a very small profit margin. We don't need to hear again every few pages.) I'll read the 2nd book, if there is one, but if the same worry is constantly described over, and over, and over.... again, it'll be my last."How the Murder Crumbles" is book #1 in the Cookie Shop cozy mystery series.
